Tenjinsai had fully received Ikazuchi’s attack and was now countering with his own. ‘He’s overpowering me…’ It wasn’t extremely lopsided, however, it was clear that he was weaker than his opponent as his attack was steadily being pushed back. He didn’t have time to overthink what step to take next. If he took one moment too many, the result could be entirely different. In a head-on clash, he was clearly weaker, but if it was only an attempt to alter the direction that may be successful.

The origin of his attack was his mouth. Initially, he had stopped himself to perform the attack but due to his ability to skillfully manipulate energy, he was able to step towards the left while maintaining the attack. More than one step was required to move to the side of his opponent’s attack, and each step was taken diagonally due to the force being put on him by their clash. This slowly changed the angle of his attack, as well as which direction their collision would affect. The end result of the two attacks was that a majority of the arena to the right of Ikazuchi, as well as the space between the two, was broken to varying degrees.

“You’re this scary even when you’re holding back, I’m not sure if I want to understand how strong you actually are.” He could clearly feel an oppressive aura originating from his opponent that made it more difficult to breathe. “Right now, when you are holding back your strength, I have to tell you that I don’t intend to lose easily after having recently obtained this power.” As he finished speaking Ikazuchi’s eyes flashed as energy overflowed and three distinct bolts of lightning danced around his left arm as each one formed a tail more than ten feet long dancing upward into the sky.

After a deep breath and a short moment of observing his opponent, Ikazuchi raised his left arm and pointed it towards his opponent. Immediately after it was fully raised the three bolts of lightning burst forward in a wide arcing triangle that appeared as if it would only be one from each side and above, however, the three came back towards each other and began interlinking and twisting together as if they were braided. It was only when the attack reached a few feet in front of Tenjinsai that they separated once more.

Each of the bolts formed an arc toward a different direction. One went upward while the other two went towards each side. The goal of this attack was for the long bolts to form a cage to prevent forward movement while the three came back and intersected on his opponent. If he dodged to any of the three directions then there would also be an attack waiting there. He couldn’t overcome his opponent’s strength, so now it was time to test his other aspects. That was the goal he had in mind as he observed the outcome of his attack.

Yet again, Tenjinsai watched his opponent maneuver his way out of another tough spot. This young man was both quick on his feet and his thoughts. 'Intelligent, resourceful, perceptive, and above all else talented. Would have made an excellent shinigami had he been a spirit.' The more they fought the more Tenjinsai found himself intrigued by Kumo. He had begun observing and studying the human just as much as actually fighting him. In addition, this strange study became more and more intriguing as Kumo's powers were revealed to him. He was able to manipulate lightning it seemed, and in a wide variety of manners. This power was used as both an augmentation and a projection; For use in combat at least. These studies however were not one sided it appeared. Though Tenjinsai had yet to show his own abilities, Kumo had been able to possibly peer into the shinigami's full strength.

Tenjinsai could only smile slightly at the comment his opponent made, a bit of his pride showing. "Perhaps after this is all over I could give you a glimpse of my true power in a proper setting. It is not something I can wield irresponsibly in this realm." What followed Tenjinsai could only nod at firmly. Just as he had his own pride, Kumo had his own to think about as well. There was much more on the line for young warriors such as those that were competing here. Tenjinsai had lived for over one hundred years, was the leader of his people, and a warrior of unparalleled strength. In his full capacity, there was nothing that he had to prove to anyone. He had gotten his bones through the decades of fighting and had acquired what he currently had. These young men, they were still fighting to forge a future for themselves.

Whether this competition would be a small or large foundation for them to build upon was unknown to him. Regardless, it would serve as a milestone for each and every one of them. This however did not mean that Tenjinsai could simply stand aside and allow them the luxury of victory over his own pride. If they were to claim their triumph, they would earn it. As these thoughts crossed his mind it was almost as though Kumo interpreted his feelings. A veritable barrage of lightning bolts streamed toward him, moving and writhing together as they did. Tenjinsai's nerves stood on end, his right arm moving upward preparing a kidou to counteract whatever was coming. However, just before making contact the tendrils of lightning dispersed once more, moving around him in several directions. His eyes darted around, tracking each of the bolts as they arced around, returning toward him from his sides and up above.

There was not much room for him to operate within, only one direction being given as an option. Yet again though, Tenjinsai would handle things on his own terms, his eyes looking directly upward toward the bolt of lightning that encroached. Moving his right arm down and his left arm up, he prepared to set his plan into motion. The index finger on his right hand would extend, a small swirling orb of translucent energy gathering in it. Within the palm of his left hand, an orb that glowed a brilliant red began to form. The timing on this would have to be perfect, lest it not work quite as well as he planned. As the right moment struck, Tenjinsai's eyes flashed briefly before he launched himself up into the air. "Hadou no Ichi, Sho!" The burst of translucent energy pummeled the ground below as the young shinigami jumped in unison, using the force of the blast to propel himself further upwards.

As he ascended, his left hand was thrust forward, directing the orb that had coalesced in his palm into the path of the lightning. "Hadou no Sanjuu-Ichi, Shakkahou!!" Just before making contact Tenjinsai fired the hadou and unleashed the red orb turned projectile into the incoming lightning. The two variants of energy collided and struggled for a moment before the shakkahou won out. The red energy plowed its way through the incoming lightning and rocketed off into the air above, exploding in a vibrant display of light and particles. Now Tenjinsai would find himself in an interesting position. There were a variety of things he could do, it was just a question of what. He hovered up in the air, fifteen or so feet above the arena now looking down at his opponent. His eyes focused on every feature of his opponent, studying his movements and the electricity that danced about his body.

Perhaps it was time for him to take this a bit more seriously and show some of his own power. His right arm shifted downward slowly, the hand of the same limb hovering just over the hilt of his zanpaktou. His eyes began to shimmer lightly, his reiatsu fluctuating as his power began to rise. The reiatsu around him slowly began to glow brighter and brighter as they turned into brilliant flames dancing about. All at once his reiatsu exploded as he gripped the hilt; The inferno bursting through out the area like a wildfire as Tenjinsai called out the name of his zanpaktou. "Kiyomeru, Seijin Enma...." As his gaze locked with that of Kumo's the flickering light of flames could be seen. This was the essence of Tenjinsai's true strength and he would bare it here for all to see. With the battlefield now turned into a blazing inferno, he descended onto Kumo.

As he hurdled downward through the air, the flames began to wrap around and envelop Tenjinsai, intensifying around his arms into a white hot inferno. As he grew closer to the ground and Kumo, Tenjinsai reached both of his arms up into the air, a dark blue orb charging between his two hands as he prepared his attack. The orb expanded, growing larger and larger as it violently crackled with the rampant energy. Just as contact was made with the ground, the young shinigami whipped his arms forward unleashing the full force of the attack he had gathered in his descent. "Hadou no Kyuujuu-San, Tsuinhiryugekizokushintenraihou!!" The orb expanded exponentially as the attack was released from between his hands; A massive blue beam rippled quickly toward his opponent, the arena ground below it cratering and cracking under the raw force of the attack.

Toku observed the battle take place and honestly found himself amazed by the powers that people from these new worlds were capable of. Such skills and techniques were so different from Jutsu but used a fundamental similar energy manipulation that is used with Chakra. "You know... I think I might have to pass..." With that, Toku made his way over to the Tournament Management to speak with an attendant.

"I would like to withdraw from the final round." The person was a little thrown off by the request, but Toku continued. "I would like to claim my prize as second place, since who ever wins this battle will be considered the first place." It was clear that Toku was not in the mood to continue fighting because Sozo wanted to make him do something. 

Once he was able to acquire his prize, however the method, Toku would depart from the main arena to meet with his companions and head back home against the wishes of Sozo. Debu and Gadian seemed to not be bothered one way or the other.

OOC: Leaving the thread

Despite being in the midst of a battle, Tenjinsai mind was quickly drawn away by something happening in the area. His senses quickly picked up spiking levels of energy that ranged from low range all the way to captain classed. It was certainly startling at first, but even more so than that, very concerning. Individuals possessing that level of strength were rare; And in Tenjinsai's experience, usually dangerous. It was clear that whatever was happening nearby needed his immediate attention more so then the contest of skill he was currently participating. He sighed lightly, not desiring to leave his opponent with an unfulfilled challenge. Such was life though, and life called out to Tenjinsai's duty. Now moving uninhibited with the full extent of his abilities, the young shinigami appeared in front of the beam he had just fired at Kumo.

"Bakudou no Sanjuu Kyuu, Enkosen." Reaching his hand out toward the beam he had just fired, Tenjinsai summoned forth a shield to protect both himself and his opponent from the attack. The aforementioned energy collided with the shield, exploding violently through the area but leaving the barrier completely intact. Lowering his hand back down, the kidou dissipated into particles of energy before vanishing completely; Tenjinsai then turning to face Kumo. "Apologies Kumo for bringing our contest to a premature conclusion. Nearby though there is something going on which I am sure your own senses picked up as well. Whatever it is, it is far more important, and dangerous, then this tournament." Tenjinsai turned away, honing in on where the energy signatures were coming from and prepared to leave. Just before he soared away, one of the officials began running toward the pair; Something being held in their hand that was waved in the air.

"Sir wait, we still need to hand out the prizes. Without a clear winner though, which one of you would take it?" Tenjinsai took a moment to think, rubbing his chin before turning his head and addressing the official briefly. "You may present the reward to my young friend if he desires it. If not, then I will return at a later date to claim the prize. I hope that this will be satisfactory for yourself and those attending." Without another word being spoken, Tenjinsai disappeared in the blink of an eye. A strong gust of wind being the only left in his wake as he headed off towards whatever disturbance was in the area.
