Budokai Tournament 11/10/2018

Chris anxiously paced on the sidelines of the tournament stage. The crowd murmered in anticipation. The names, as they were called out, gave him an idea about who and what his opponents would be like. A shinobi by the name of Hokori would be the first one up. He had heard so many different stories of the techniques shinobi were able to use, so there was no way to prepare himself against any one particular style of fighting. The only thing consistent in these tales was that as a group, they are some of the fastest and most disciplined fighters on Earth. Chris let out a long, nervous sigh, and made his way up to the center of the stage. All around him were faces and voices making comments and bets on his ability based on his appearance. Luckily, or so he thought, he was the first to advance into the match. Either his opponent was more nervous than he was, or he was already here, and hidden by some shinobi technique. Chris scanned his surroundings closely, waiting for the first sign of Regashi Hokori.

Tournament Stats and Skills:

"What. The. Fuck?!" Barely able to open his eyes, Ikazuchi flew uncontrollably through the sky inside a massive lightning bolt produced by the Dragon Electra. He had no idea his destination, only that it seemed that wherever he was being sent was intended for him to train and strengthen himself. His dealings with Electra left him feeling as if the Dragon's very personality was lightning due to how direct and overwhelming he was. It was a very brief encounter, yet he had gained an extremely rare magic on top of having his life saved. It was without a doubt the most bizarre day Ikazuchi had encountered.

Several minutes passed by, but each one felt like several hours as he continued thundering through the sky. At some point Ikazuchi found himself focusing on the lightning energy flowing around and through himself. His strength felt as if it was overflowing due to the excessive amount he took in from Electra. This state of focus continued all the way up until he felt the energy begin to weaken and his body slow it's travelling speed. Right as he opened his eyes, he saw the ground rapidly approaching before his eyes. Like any sane person he reflexively panicked slightly, only to abruptly stop in a standing position inches above the ground. After stopping, the remaining energy gathered and surged into his body along with a message. "Compete!" It was only one word that didn't clarify any of Electra's intentions. At an unknown destination without any information he could only observe his surroundings for answers.

The meaning of the message was quickly revealed as he looked beyond the stunned crowd and noticed the large sign for the Budokai Tournament sign-ups. Had he been in Fiore he would have avoided such a place as if it were the plague due to his circumstances, but now he had the chance to act freely and in line with Electra's wishes so he simply entered the queue and made his way to the clerk accepting participants with his sword still in hand. Even with his newfound power that was likely to exceed the strength he could exert with his sword, he still instinctively relied on it.

"I would like to register, My name is Ikazuchi Kumo." After several minutes of waiting he had reached the front of the line and was able to register. "Hello there! Where do you hail from participant?" The male clerk asked one of the few questions that he was required to, and caused Ikazuchi to struggle internally. 'Do I tell him, or lie? If I can avoid it, it's best to avoid alerting my pursuers. At the same time, sending them onto a trail extremely far away such as this one could buy me time to disappear after this tournament...' After a moment of consideration he chose to speak the truth. "Fiore." He was calm, unsure whether the man in front of him would even be aware of the name. "I see! Well then, please proceed to the waiting area through to entrance behind me. I would like to remind you that weapons won't be allowed under any circumstance, or you will suffer immediate disqualification."

After registering Ikazuchi spent time waiting before the first fight was announced. "Regashi Hokori and Chris Stowe? They are both from somewhere I haven't ever heard of." From a quiet corner Ikazuchi spoke to himself as he watched the man introduced as Chris Stowe paced around. It was clear that the man he was currently looking at was somewhat nervous, but Ikazuchi could vague feel a sense of danger from the man. Initially he expected to win easily, however it seemed that Electra had taken into consideration his strength and sent him somewhere with suitable opponents. For the first time in a long time Ikazuchi felt excitement at the prospect of fights as he waited for the first fight to commence.

Temp. Tournament Stats|:

The crowd was filled with excitement, especially with the first match finally announced after much anticipation. It was a mixed crowd of people from all over the world who wanted to see what such a tournament would have in terms of participants. In the crowd, a small girl sat on the shoulders of her very large companion cheering when they heard Regashi was first up. “Debu! Toku is the first one to fight.” She turned her head to the side then swiveled to look around. After maybe a solid 10 seconds she realized who she was looking for was not around.

“Uh… Sozo…” The large man spoke up, “I think Toku left…”

Immediately the small woman started to grow frustrated as she leaped from the large man and started to run across the heads and shoulders of the crowd. Behind her, Debu made his way through the crowd apologizing to every person as best he could.

Eventually Sozo made it to where a clearing kind of was behind the main stands and there she saw Regashi on the ground in the shaded area. “Toku!” She shouted as she rushed over and kicked him in his leg as hard as she could.

Quickly Regashi jumped up startled, “Sozo… What do you want?”  His words alone were enough to add fuel to the frustration of Sozo.

“You are up to compete and you decide to rest over here!?” She shouted as Regashi could only manage a shrug as he got up with the assistance of Debu. “I did you the kindness of signing you up to do something since you said you were so bored and doing a bunch of low rank missions back in Kumogakure and you waste it sleeping!?”

Regashi kind of turned away from her as she continued to yell at him and faced the stage, or at least the direction of the stage. “Oh yeah… I was bored waiting and took a walk.” He made a small laugh, “I guess I got distracted.”

It appeared Sozo had more to say, but Debu raised his hand slightly and she immediately decided to calm down. “Whatever.” She approached Regashi, “Debu taught me this at least."

“What-“ But before he could finish his sentence, Sozo tapped her right index and middle finger on his forehead and instantly he froze. A few seconds went by and Regashi seemed to come back from his tranced state. “What just… What was-“

“Mental Barricade. A Genjutsu. Kind of limit some of your skills so that you can focus on using only the particular skills I want you to use, so you won’t be so bored.” She smiled as she nodded to Debu.

Immediately Debu took Regashi into his arms and threw him over his shoulder. With that, the three of them made their way back toward the stage. As they made their way through it was obvious that everyone started to have their own curiosity as to what was taking the other combatant so long and started to draw their own far-fetched conclusions.

Eventually they arrived at near the staging area, “Now go.” Sozo said as Debu threw Regashi into the air and he landed in the arena. It was more like he crashed, as opposed to landing, as he hit the ground and rolled a few feet.

Slowly he got up from the ground, dusted himself off, and made an obscene gesture at Sozo. Slowly he turned his gaze towards the man across from him as he rubbed the back of his head, “Regashi here… I guess…”  He attempted to make a smile, but with his lack of desire it was barely a smirk on his face.

Combat Information:

Chris didnt act quickly. He could feel the ring of the bell, and the hum of the crowd. His opponent seemed casual, and that helped him relax. Its the first match, and he wasnt really ready to go all out. So, at least in that regard, he felt lucky to be going against him. Chris shifted his weight from foot to foot and shook his hands and arms out trying to loosen up.

Ill give you the first move, Regashi. Just take it easy on me will you? Haha

Regashi stood their looking at the man across from him, completely unaware of his identity since he had only just woken up a few minutes ago. Then the shouting of the announcer rings through the arena but is mute compared to the loud ring of the bell that it actually startled him. It took a moment for him to gather himself as he started to look around the whole arena kind of drifting into a deep thought until the man before him spoke.

"Oh?" Regashi brought his attention back to the guy, "First move...?" He noticed that the man was preparing himself for the match by moving around to presumably limber up or something. He would lift his right hand in front of his face with both his index and middle fingers erect with his other fingers closed. Instantly the veins on his temples and around the outer edges of his eye sockets would be more visible as they protrude. 

Instantly the details of this individual's body becomes a map with a sense of how his energy flows through his body. Regashi learned quick, even with the fact that many people have a different name for it, that everyone has a life force his eyes can see flowing through them that is susceptible to the Gentle First. The flow is different than those that have use of Jutsu, but he can still track the movements and use the difference to determine many factors. 

With a shrug, Regashi would approach the man in a calm and casual manner stopping just within arms reach. "Ready?" Regashi gave a moment as he would swing his right elbow downward on the sternum of his opponent. His eyes tracking along the mid line of his sternum between the 1st and 2nd rib aiming for the internal thoracic artery that crosses the 1st intercostal nerve aiming for an instantly disabling strike and preparing to inject enough chakra to amplify the strike. Ideally it was an attack of precision to cause his opponent to black out immediately. 

In the event that it was not enough, Regashi would stand there casually, "Your turn."

Combat Information:

Chris walked towards him at the same pace, and the two met in the center of the arena. As they got closer to each other, he noticed his eyes which were unlike any he had seen before. He wondered for a moment whether Regashi was part demon or something. Suddenly he attacked, his elbow swinging towards him with surgical precision, though he found himself able to follow the movement. Chris dodged backward while reach out and pushing his elbow to help direct the strike away from him, but he had to withdraw his hand away in pain. He felt a piercing pain at just the touch of his strike. Unsure of what happened or how his techniques worked, he started thinking fast attempting yo formulate a battle plan. One lesson learned: dont let him touch you. As he landed, Chris immediately rushed his energy to his legs, and in a flash of green light, he rushed in as fast as he could, his fist raised high and his body low to the ground, swinging a hard right hook towards Regashi's jaw.

Too bad we have to fight, you seem like a cool guy.

Tournament Stats and Skills:

Regashi knew that he was not putting everything into the attack, but the fact that the man was able to maneuver in such a way to avoid the direct impact of the attack and still maintain use of his arm was impressive. It was that moment that Regashi watched as the pulsing green energy, Reiryoku as some called it, would grow from the core of the man and flow down towards his feet. 

Momentum Shift. Movement.

Quickly, Regashi would take the time to lower his posture observing how the man was moving forward in order to go for his own offense. This guy was certainly faster than Regashi, that much was obvious to see but at the same time the movements were slow enough for him to observe. Still, he knew that could not react fast enough to simply avoid taking the damage altogether.

"Loser buys drinks."


Regashi decided to step forward into the man as the punch came and focused on the tenketsu that are on his face and released it to dampen the pain of the attack should his primary approach prove ineffective. Pushing forward with his lowered stance and elevate using the momentum to slam his palm into the right shoulder of the man planning to use his chakra once more but this time to disable use of the arm. A painful trade, but one to exploit because if the man fails to commit Regashi and push harder.

Combat Information:

So this is the difference between being hard headed and being trained. Chris's heart raced in excitement as his fist reached its target, but it felt as if he had hit himself. His blow connected, but a painful stab of energy caught him directly in the shoulder. It felt as if it was suddenly put to sleep. It tingled painfully, and was rendered all but useless. He had very little control, but he wasnt bleeding. Somehow he was being hit inside. This fighting style was deceptively gentle. He felt very little physical force behind these strikes, though that wasnt to say they were weak attacks. He thought to himself, no matter what the outcome of the fight was, he would be the one to buy drinks. Hopefully, he could learn a little about how he does this. But that didnt mean he would stop giving it his all. In fact, he felt it appropriate to take it a little further. Chris tried to focus his energy and flood his limbs, and was worried to find it impossible to feel the energy in his left arm. Whatever Regashi did was blocking the reiatsu from flowing to that arm. He wouldnt be able to allow another solid attack to land. Chris focused his energy to his legs again, and in another flash of green light, he dashd forward with another right hook aimed for his jaw, though this time, the attack was a feint. Once he was close enough, he abandoned the punch, and rotated around low to kick his feet from under him. Using his Bringer Light one more time, he positioned himself above and behind Regashi and kicked both legs down together aimed at his lower back.
