Rensaku Hozukoku OC

Character Name: Rensaku Hozukoku


"Just call me Ren. It's easier to say and more importantly it's shorter."

The name, when put together, means Waterlilly and derived from a village under the human world that belonged to the Aya clan of the Sanuki province. The name is a direct reference to his families refined and noble like nature as well as the name used for a tea shop that survived time and is still an accessible consumer friendly shop that also sells pocket trinkets. Unfortunately, due to his memories being wiped after death, Ren only acknowledges it as a happily accepted coincidence.

The last name is a gift that come straight from the prince himself to mean, One who Fights valiantly. His reason behind bestowing his family with a new name comes from Rensaku's forefathers who, when war came to their hometown, impressed the prince by grabbing arms and helping to push back the invading forces.

Age: 21

The nearly ripped age for a man in the human world but equatable to a toddler when compared to much older spirits in his world. It's not uncommon for spirits to range in the thousands in age, sometimes even the tens of thousands with the oldest recorded being a hundred thousand years of age.

Class: Agile

Due to his flight being much strong than his fight response and his hate towards being hit, Rensaku has developed himself in a manner to be more evasive and less likely to receive damage at the expense of strength, stamina and Reiy based attacks.

Starting Location: Soul Society

The massive, protective and circular wall with a protective barrier of unknown properties has been the home of the spirited man for the last fourteen years, long enough for him to know the place like the back of his hands. The residence within the walls known as Rukongai is his home town and has been taken care of and his ambition to become the world's greatest shinigami.

Race: Shinigami

A death god, spirits designated by fate to purify sinful souls and to transport the dead from the world of the living to Rukongai. These beings come complete with a shikai and bankai, two power release abilities that grant the user a free power up boost from their zanpakuto; in addition to, they're able to use special abilities that don't abide by normal kido or bakudo rules.

Personality:

His way of thinking is more realistic with slightly more optimistic approach in the objectives that look obtainable. It's not difficult to inspire him since all that's needed is a quick display of speed, elegance or power, but these three awe inspiring skills are the only way to do so. He isn't one to be angered easily thanks to his dislike of pain and a great hate for being hit. Rensaku will likely try to plato at playing cool over being afraid or hot headed. When he does somehow end up being provoked, he won't simply just rush into combat but will instead verbally announce his frustration and then declare that he'll get revenge or make them pay for their comment. Rensaku has one of the strongest mental endurance and will to succeed that if he doesn't complete his goal the first time then he will try it again at a different time when visible improvements have been made.

His general attitude is to be relaxed and friendly, often sitting in postures that invite others to come over and talk to him. Due to being open minded and mindful of his wording, he will give an almost one hundred percent unbiased answer that is worded in manner that avoids offending his intended audience. He is highly evasive with certain topics that he feels his opinions don't belong.

When in combat he can display many different set of responses based on the opponent's overall skill and tactical prowess. Against opponents on or at his level, he gets a little tense as the battle can go either way. Against opponents of lesser skill he can appear to be unimpressed and disappointed in the fight unless that person can do something that offsets his weaker abilities i.e. by using tactical attack and defense options. Against opponents with more skill than he has, he's more alive than he'll ever be as he has a mental craving for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. When opponents are far too strong for him he'll fight but will have an eye out for anything that may give him the chance to escape.

Appearance:

The clothing choice varies from time to time. Sometimes he can be seen wearing his standard, unedited, shinigami clothing and other times he can be found wearing traditional feudal Japan armor. His hair is purple and can range from short to long depending on how long it's been since being cut. He wears a whit scarf that wraps around the neck and is long enough to wave in the air as he moves. He even has a fully wire set that includes a fur cover the connects from one shoulder to the other, linking around the back of his neck. He even goes out in fitted, long legged, pants and fitted, long sleeves, shirts that offer some padded protection from blunt attacks.

Bio:

Before becoming a spirit and inhabitant of the Rukongai area, he was a human. His goal was to be a police officer and eventually become a detective to fight off the ever growing yakuza threat that had been causing grief to the populace from the shadows; they were the cause of a drug problem, they used blackmail, and even extorted small business in the name of "protection money."

Ren soon found himself being a victim of a yakuza who chose to rob him at gun point. Of course, being that he was a stubborn person at the time, he fought back as soon as the man's guard was down. The two struggled with the gun for quite some time, but Ren ended up being overwhelmed by the guy's strength and was shot in the chest. As he lay on the ground, watching him run away, he heard a whisper in his ear from someone. "Death has chosen you tonight. Feel death's embrace."

He then slowly closed his eyes, passing away on the streets and later being recovered by a shinigami. The black clothes death god looked Ren then his body before grasping him by the shoulder and performing the purification which allowed him to go to the spirit world in a place call Rukongai.

Once there, he had lost his memories and was confused to how he got to where he was. There were no clues to how he got there, only an accepting family that welcomed him with open arms and friendly smiles. They ended up telling him how he got there, but none of them knew what his life was like before then, not even he knew. He had a brother, a sister and a caring mother and father.

The family of five, with his assistance, made a living for themselves until one day an idea came to mind. What if he became a shinigami? He could then help out people like he was and send their souls to spirit world as there were bound to be people who pass on and will be in need of purification. He especially wanted to help as he had been hearing news that a neighboring town had been getting hustled by a group united gangs.

Rensaku trained to be a shinigami because he not only believed in what they stood for but because he knew he could make a difference and become a hero. He worked tirelessly to become a great weapon and even went out of his way be the eyes and ears for them by turning names and locations to the soul reapers whenever he learned something that could be put to use in their favor. Ren was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of of the Shihōin when they were chasing down a wanted criminal. They would be escapee was quickly apprehended in the most elegant and awe inspiring way possible. Taken back, he swore himself to become apart of their rank one day.

Combat Style:

Ren relies on multiple ways of attacking, from low-high attacks, to keep-out maneuvers to avoid offensive attacks dealt against him. He will even grab if he feels it's necessary, but mostly uses keep out and evasive tactics to avoid being hit as much as possible. He will try to strategize if thinks there's something he can do to improve his situation. His form attacks: Kicking, rounded slicing, and even punching though he tries to avoid it due to the range that a standard punch has.

Zanpakuto Name: Anya



A frustrating woman who's highly uncooperative, adamant and forceful with her own desires. She can be close minded at times, snickering at his mistakes and even go as far as to give him false advice that seem reasonable but only ends up screwing him over in the end. Eventually she comes around to being mother like and friendly, giving some actual good advice and helping him to improve as a shinigami. Though, angering her may end up bringing an unfortunate response to Ren if he's not careful with the way he approaches. Overall, the two gets along pretty well and enjoys each other's company.

Element: Water

Bankai Name: 死の抱擁 Shi no Hōyō(Death's Embrace)

Shikai Abilities:

1: Clouded Strike

By slicing the air in front of him, Ren creates a five foot, invisible, tear in the air that only activates once he sheaths his blade. Whatever is caught in the attack gets cut by his attack, the lethality being confirmed by his attack vs the enemy's stamina.

2: Water(Passive)

He has the ability to control water and use it at will with his power being heavily influence by his power level, divided by 1000. I.e. If her had 60000 reiatsu and you divide by 1000 then he has 60 attack. (Caps at 120)

3: Healing Hands(Passive)

Being that his zanpakuto is familiar with death and how it works, using the healing properties of water will allow him to heal major wounds by submerging the injured person with water that then works to speed up the recovery process of the intended target(s).

4: Storm

Rensaku can actively engage with the weather to make it rain, which then allows him to use more stronger water based attacks and also allows him to use his tsunami attack once his bankai has been activated. It can also be used to put out a large scale fire.

5:Water Aura

Instead of actually being made of water, his body is covered in a blue aura that neutralizes fire damage, allowing him to ignore fire based attacks so long as the enemy's fire damage isn't stronger than his stamina.

Bankai Abilities:

Upon activating his bankai, he gets a different set of clothing from what he usually wears. His shinigami clothes changes to be more of a white cloak that kind of works like a cape. While it may not offer any amazing ability or even a small stat boost, it sure does look cool.

1: Become Mist

Allows himself to become like mist, completely phasing himself through an attack and completely negating it.(3 post cool down)

2: Mirror Reflect

Ren is able to take an opponent's
non-sword based attack and send it right back at the for equal the damage. He is not able to add to the attack and is unable to use any other moves until the next post.

3: Dragon

Being that his Zanpakuto is actually a dragon that's taken a mostly human form, he gains the ability to transform into a water dragon that's highly strong to fire, weak against electric based attacks and resistant to blunt based attacks. He also is able to shoot balls of condensed water.

4:Tsunami

After using his storm ability, he's able to activate the tsunami ability which causes a large sum of water to envelope any target that he chooses regardless of grounded or airborne. He can use it to either trap his opponent so that preparations can be made or it can be used to crush them.

5: Death's Embrace

Once the enemy has been caught by the tsunami and is encased in it, he can use his ultimate form of attack. By using his own reiatsu he can attempt to deplete the enemy's own reiatsu until they're dead
